Wynwood is Miami's creative capital — a neighborhood where street art, studios, galleries, and restaurants collide. If you live or work here, your wardrobe tells a story. Paint-splattered jeans, vintage finds, technical fabrics, and statement pieces all need different care.
The Wynwood Wardrobe Challenge
Creatives face laundry challenges that most people don't. Acrylic paint on a canvas apron. Spray paint residue on a hoodie. Ink stains on a studio shirt. These aren't problems that a standard wash cycle solves — and the wrong approach can set the stain permanently.
Stain Removal for Studio Accidents
For water-based paints (acrylic, watercolor, gouache): Act fast. Rinse with cold water immediately, then soak in cold water with a small amount of dish soap. Don't use hot water — it sets the stain.
For oil-based paints: These require a solvent. Turpentine or mineral spirits on a cloth, applied to the back of the fabric, can lift the stain. Then wash with dish soap to remove the solvent.
For spray paint: Hairspray or rubbing alcohol can break down the lacquer. Apply, let sit for 2 minutes, then scrub gently with a toothbrush.
When in doubt, bring it to CICLA. Our dry cleaning specialists handle specialty stain removal as part of the service.
Caring for Vintage and Thrift Finds
Wynwood's vintage scene means many residents are working with older, more delicate fabrics. Pre-1980s synthetics, vintage denim, and deadstock pieces all require gentle handling. Always check the care label — if there isn't one, treat it as delicate.
